“Be fair, be truthful, work hard, be there on time, and help people.”
- Bruce T. Halle, Sr., Chairman, Discount Tire Corporation

In 1960, when Bruce T. Halle founded Discount Tire, the road ahead looked bumpy. Armed with only six tires and a deeply held belief in fairness and integrity, Halle established his first store in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The sole employee, Halle was the tire technician, accountant, sign painter and cleaning crew.

Today, Discount Tire enjoys a smoother ride, operating more than 800 stores in 23 states. The company has remained true to Halle’s vision, which centers on a heartfelt commitment to each customer and employee.

In 2002, Bruce and Diane Halle founded the Diane & Bruce Halle Foundation to extend that sense of caring to the larger community. Since both Bruce and Diane’s spouses were lost to cancer, the Diane & Bruce Halle Foundation began by establishing a cancer treatment pavilion, in the Piper Cancer Center at Scottsdale Healthcare, dedicated to their memories.

The Halle Foundation now serves as a leader in promoting new ways to collaborate on issues of social justice. While that begins with funding, our proudest investment is providing time, guidance and support to every partnership we form and every life we touch.
